History

Enrique Levi, who operated a Czechoslovakian porcelain imports firm, was the founder of Vinçon in 1934. Amat's links with the business began one year later, when Mr. Hugo Vinçon hired Jacinto Amat as a salesman. In the 1950s Juan and Fernando joined the firm.

Since the 1980s, a third generation of the Amat family, Sergio, Juan Enrique and Yolanda, have joined the organization.

When the firm settled in Paseo de Gracia, Barcelona, in 1941 it was known as Regalos Hugo Vinçon and was characterised by an exhibition room and a big warehouse at the back.

In 1957 the company was acquired by the Amat family, initialising what was going to be one of the most unique and representative establishments in Barcelona.

After some failed attempts to reinvent the image of the shop, in 1967, Amat wondered how he could make his business take off with a new beginning and a fresh commercial phase. His question was:

What would happen if we made an alternative offer to what the public demand?

They decided to risk it and explore the incipient industry of contemporary household items. From that moment on, innovation took place rapidly at all levels.
